Γιάννος Οικονόμου (δημιουργός του πρότζεκτ / εικαστικός)
Γεννήθηκε στην Κύπρο το 1959. Σπούδασε, αρχικά, Οικονομικά στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο αλλά απέκτησε δεύτερο πτυχίο και μάστερ στις Καλές Τέχνες από το Kent Institute of Arts and Design στο Kent. Κατά κύριο λόγο video artist, έχει ασχοληθεί επίσης με το φιλμ, τη φωτογραφία, το animation και τα βίντεό του έχουν προβληθεί εξίσου σε γκαλερί και σε φεστιβάλ για βίντρο. Η πιο πρόσφατη του δουλειά συνδιάζει σε μια ποιητική σύνθεση τις πιο “ωμές” ιδιότητες του βίντεο και την ικανότητα του μέσου να συλλαμβάνει αδιαμεσολάβητους ήχους και εικόνες.
Συμμετοχές του σε εκθέσεις: Τραύμα & Θεραπεία το 2014 στην Πάφο, Magmart το 2013 στην Ιταλία, Videomedeja το 2012 στη Σεβία, GIGUΚ στη Γερμανία, Raising Dust στο Calvert 22, στο Λονδίνο, Cinesonika στη Varna, Kunstifilmtag στο Dusseldorf, Looking Awry στη Λεμεσό το 2009, In Transition-Russia στο Yekaterinenburg, The Mirror Stage στη Λεμεσό, Isolomania and Disaster & Oblivion στη Λευκωσία το 2007 και 2008, Somatopia στο Λονδίνο το 2006 και άλλες. Είχε τρεις ατομικές εκθέσεις στην Κύπρο και τη Γερμανία και συνεργάστηκε με το σχήμα χορού Echo Arts. Συνέλαβε και υπήρξε συμπαραγωγός σε πολλά πρότζεκτ εκ των οποίων το Ancient Whispers στη Λεμεσό το 2009 σε συνεργασία με το NEME και το Without σε συνεργασία με την Πολιτιστική Πρωτεύουσα της Ευρώπης Πάφος 2017. Το έργο του Dancing Landscapes κέρδισε το βραβείο καλύτερα μονταρισμένης μικρού μήκους ταινίας στο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Ταινιών Μικρού Μήκους της Κύπρου το 2013 και η μικρού μήκους ταινία του The Machine Dream κέρδισε το βραβείο καλύτερης πειραματικής ταινίας μικρού μήκους στο ίδιο φεστιβάλ το 2015.
Yiannos Economou (creator of the project / visual artist)
Born in Cyprus in 1959, he studied first Economics in UK, but re-entered full time education and obtained a Fine Arts Degree and a Masters from the Kent Institute of Arts and Design in Kent. Whilst mainly a video artist, he has also worked with film, photography and animations and his videos have been shown equally in gallery spaces and video festivals. His later works combine the raw verisimilar attributes of video and its ability to capture unmediated sounds and images into poetic compositions.
His participations in Trauma & Therapy 2014 in Paphos, Magmart 2013 in Italy, Videomedeja 2012 in Serbia, GIGUK in Germany, Raising Dust in Calvert 22, London, Cinesonika in Canada, The Little Land Fish in Istanbul, Breaking Walls in Thessaloniki in 2010, Videoholica in Varna, Kunstifilmtag in Dusseldorf, Looking Awry in Limassol in 2009, In Transition-Russia in Yekaterinenburg, The Mirror Stage in Limassol, Isolomania and Disaster & Oblivion in Nicosia in 2007 and 2008, Somatopia in London in 2006 and others. He had three solo shows in Cyprus and Germany and collaborated with dance company Echo Arts. He conceived and co-produced various projects such as Ancient Whispers in Limassol 2009 in collaboration with NEME and the show Without in association with European Capital of Culture Pafos 2017. Dancing Landscapes won the best edited short film award at the 2013 International Short Film Festival of Cyprus and his short film The Machine Dream won the best experimental short film at the same festival in 2005.
